Hungary MinesAustrian Border
LONDON, Wed. GO a.m.)—Hungary officially acknowledged today that it had mined-and fenced off sections of its border with Austria, the Associated Press reported today. The reason given was “to keep out smugglers, spies and Fascists sent into Hungary by their imperialist employers, and to prevent similar characters escaping from Hungary.” The Hungarian disclosure was made in a Note replying to an Austrian complaint that Hungarian security measures on the frontier were endangering Austrian lives.
