Maungatapere Tennis

Rain did not. altogether thwart members of the Maungatapere Tennis Club when it fell on their opening day.

They played table tennis in the local hall.

Competition prizes were won by Miss M. Johnson and D. McManus and consolations by Miss M. Procter and R. Proctor. Officers elected at the annual meeting were:—

Patron: Mr J. Stevenson; president, Mr R. Proctor; vice-president, Mr B. Merrychurch; club captain Mr I. Grace; secretary-treasurer. Miss M. Johnson; committee, Messrs M. Grace and M. H. Johnson.

The ,Walker Cup handicap competitions last season were won by Miss M. Proctor and M. H. Johnson.
