Many Book For Empire Games

AUCKLAND, Wed. (Sp.).—When the bookings closed on Saturday a total of £21,243 had been received by the organising secretary of tire British Empire Games to start ;n Auckland in February.

This was £I2OO more than the estimate of £22,000 for the preferential booking of season tickets. In drawing up a budget based on the estimated revenue of the Games, the ■tickets sub-committee recently decided that, although the figure of £28,000 could be regarded as the absolute maximum for sales of preferential seats, the amount of £20,000 was generous. The public response was therefore regarded as most gratifying. The estimated revenue from day sales at the Games has been set at a maximum of £40,000, with the figure of £31,000 regarded as the target.
