Will ‘Throw Reds Out Of Bendigo’

MELBOURNE, Thu. (1.20 p.m.)— About 100 members of the Returned Servicemen’s League and non-Commu* nist delegates to the Trades Hall Council stormed into the Bendigo Trades Hall and took charge of a meeting being conducted by militants. Blows were exchanged as the men forced two high grille gates and fought <v>oir way past a guard Into the meeting. It was claimed that Communists from Melbourne and other outside places were present at the meeting, and engaged in the attempts to keep servicemen out. The secretary of the Returned Servicemen’s League (Mr A. J. Skehan) said: “We shall throw the Communists out of Bendigo. We owe this to our fallen comrades. “There will be no violence unless someone else starts it.”
