Revenue From Tourist Traffic

WELLINGTON, Wed. (PA.)— The opinion that New Zealand’s tourist attractions were the country's greatest dollar-earner was expressed by members on both sides of the House when the vote for the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts was discussed. Mr T. L. Macdonald (O—Wallace) considered the Milford Sound and the Milford Track were the country’s chief tourist attraction, and he advocated the appointment of a track manager to supervise the restoring of the track and keeping it in repair. Mr W. Sullivan (O-Bay of Plenty) urged that there should be a better programme of overseas advertising. Mr P. G. Connolly (G—Dunedin Central) suggested wider distribution of tourist literature, films and pamphlets on ships regularly on the run to New Zealand.
