Sea Cadets Earn Dollars
NEW YORK, Tue. (2 p.m.).—Sixteen New Zealand Navy League Cadets each earned S6O in three weeks picking apples near Toronto. The cadets, who earlier had attended the Empire sea cadets’ camp at Choisey, Quebec, are using their dollars for a three-day visit to New York. Their earnings were supplemented by a “pocket money” gift from the Canadian Navy League. Today they visited naval shipyards in New York ,as well as seeing som,c of the sights of the city. They have been token under the wing of the commandant of the Third Naval District and are being escorted by American Sea Scouts. The party, which is in charge of Lieut.-Commander T. Marwick, of Auckland, assisted by Lieut. P. M. Sanders, will leave New York on Thursday for Toronto and then visit all the important cities on the way to Vancouver, from where they will leave for home on the Aorangi on October 20.
