Firm Line Taken
LONDON, Tue. (2 p.m.). The British Government won the first round of its fight to swing the whole Labour movement behind it on devaluation when its leaders addressed the Parliamentary Labour Party today before the Commons assembled, says Reuters. Government leaders are understood to have taken a firm line at the meeting and to have promised that devaluation will not cause any sharp rise in living costs. I It is believed the Government is confident there will be no serious split among its supporters when a vote is taken on Thursday night.
