HAMILTON, Tue- (Sp.)—A Frankton mechanic. Jack Thomas Rowley, 22, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Messrs E. A. Butt and R. Braithwaite, J.P.s, in Hamilton yesterday, charged with assaulting his wife, Joan. Margaret Rowley. He was fined £3.
Sergeant Rush said that Constable Beasley was called to accused’s home .early on Sunday morning and found Mrs Rowley suffering from bruises. There had been a disagreement, the accused stating that his wife went to dances and came home late. He asked the constable: "What's a man to do when she will not listen to reason?” Sergeant Rush added that Mrs Rowley was not seriously hurt and did not need medical attention.
