Indoor Basketball .

A Whangarei women’s indoor basketball team, Nomads, won the J. A. McLean Shield in an all-fternoon atournment at Dargaville on Saturday. The shield, which was presented for inter-club competition by Mr J. A. McLean, of Dargaville, is open to all Northland women’s A ana B grade teams. Five Whangarei teams played in the tournament and Nomads beat Kilties (Dargaville) convincingly in the final Results: Dargaville Reds 12,• Dodgers fWhg) 8; Kilties (Dare) 18, Convent (Whg) 10; Athletics (Whg) 60, Rovers 3; Checkers (Darg) 34, Farmers (Whg) 15; Nomads (Whg) 41, Dargaville Old Girls 30. Second Round: Kilties 13, Dargaville Reds 10; Athletics 30. Checkers 12; Nomads beat Athletics. Final: Nomads 35. Kilties 16. The Bishop of Chichester (Dr G. K. Bell) chairman of the central committee of the World Council of Churches, will arrive at Auckland by air on Thursday from Australia. Dr Bell is visiting New Zealand at the invitation of the National Council of Churches. He will address public meetings at the four main centres and New Plymouth.
