Flashlight Photos And Boxers

WELLINGTON, Tue. (P.A.)—Whether taking a flashlight photograph interferes with boxers during contests was debated at today’s annual conference of the New Zealand Boxing Association.

Mr C. Mullany (Wellington) said his association .acting on complaints, had decided against it. A deputation was subsequently received from the press and, before giving an answer, his association desired to know the opinion of the national body. Mr E. A. Blundell (Wellington) said flashlights, if properly controlled, should cause no undue interference. 'Mr W. J. Baillie (Hawke’s Bay) said flashlights had an upsetting influence on boxers. Mr J. A. Nodwell (secretary) said the question would crop up again at the Empire Games. Powerful overhead lights used for films would nullify the effects of flashlights. It was agreed to leave the decision with the local association.
