FALL FROM BRIDGE A car fell from the overhead bridge just south of Wellsford on Saturday afternoon. Two ment escaped injury. TON THAT GOT AWAY. One of the best fish stories—and probably one of the truest —to be heard in Whangarei for some time, was told this morning when the trawler Three Kings returned from an outing around the Hen and Chicken islands. She brought with her about two tons of fish, mainly snapper, with a sprinkling of gurnet, terakihi and other species. Her catch would have been incr-ased by one ton, or thereabouts, if a lot of fish had not got away last night. The story goes that the Three Kings had just completed a trawl between the Hen and Chickens, and a net bulging with about 20 baskets, or a ton of fish, had been hauled out of the water with her winch. At the crucial moment, as the catch was being swung inboard, the ecid rope which keeps the net closed, broke under the strain and a ton of snapper regained their freedom, The cod rope had probably been partly severed by a rock or shell during the trawl.

Cambrics and ginghams are always in demand for spring. A beautiful collection of the very newest is now being featured at Henry Wilson’s, from 3/11 yard. New spring goods are daily arriving and being assembled in the various departments. Ladies are reminded that inspection is always welcome at Wilson’s. r/wl
