Captain Albert Edmund Taylor, R.D., R.N.R., master of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer, Hororata, collapsed and died in his cabing early on Saturday afternoon. He was aged 59. Nominations by the Canterbury University College for Rhodes Scholarships are Mr Keith I. D. Maslen and Mr Edward R. Coates Mr Maslam was educated at Timaru Boys’ High School. Entering Canterbury College in 1945, he graduated M.A. with first-class honours in French in 1948. His sports include swimming, tennis, tramping, cycling and ski-ing. Educated at Matamata College, Mr Coats is studying engineering and hopes to complete the B.E. degree this year. 1-Ie is a member of the Canterbury College first XV. and has gained college and New Zealand University blues for shooting.
