Beef Bulls Sell To 127 Gns At Kaikohe
A TWO-YEAR-OLD Aberdeen Angus bull. Escort of Matapihi, was sold for the high figure of 127gn at a special beef bull sale conducted at Kaikohe yesterday. This is one of the highest prices ever paid at auction tor beef bulls in Northland. The offering of Aberdeen Angus and Hereford bulls met keen competition and high prices were realised throughout, an average of 40fgn being obtained for the 38 cattle sold.
The 127gn bull was sold by Mr H. V. for another bull sold to Mr C. S. Shaw Kay of Motatau, to Mrs B. Orr, oft and 61gn for a bull purchased by the Kaikohc. Mr Kay also obtained 65gn estate of F. Lewis. An entry of Mr R. McKenzie's was bought by Mr R. Searle for 65gn. The sale was conducted by the prin-1 ciple stock firms operating conjointly.
64-Gns Average
Twenty-two pedigree Jersey bulls changed hands at an average price of more than 64gn at the combined sale of Messrs W. P. Begg's and J. A. Moffat's Caledonia and Stirling Studs at Dargaville yesterday. The top price was 105gn, paid for the two-year-old Caledonia Owler's Pride, by Mr J. McDermott, of Tangowahine. This typey specimen was by Jersey Nook lan from Caledonia Fairy Prestige, a high producing prize winner. For 90gn Mr H. L. Windust, of Pukchuia, bought Stirling Trader, a two-year-old bull by William of Manna. CBB from Stirling Pearl, VIIC, COR 713.85 lb fat. < Two other bulls made 30gn. They were Caledonia Owler Again, sold to Mr W. H. Hemmings, Donnelly’s Crossing, and Stirling Prince Amos, purchased by Mr M. Radich, Dargaville. Bidding was brisk for the choicer lots offered in the sale, at which the North Auckland Farmers’ Coop. Ltd. officiated. Of the 22 bulls sold, the lowest price was 42£gn., indicating that the sale was a very satisfactory one in every respect,
Bay of Is. Jersey Sale
Average realisations of 33gn for six two-year-olds and 27gn for 12 yearlings, were recorded at the second annua] sale of the Bay of Islands Jersey Cattle Club, held at Kaikohe yesterday. Although only a small percentage of the offering was passed, prices were not high, the top realisation being 52gn. This figure was paid for the champion bull of the show which preceded the sale, the entry being Mr O. D. Hows’ first prize yearling, Glen Crest Royal Link. The reserve champion was the same vendor’s Glen Crest Cupid's Pride, two-year-old winner, which sold for 35gn. The second prize yearling was Mr E. D. M. Parkinson's Bay View Quicksand. third prize going to Mr H. Shepherd's Beaufort Royal Noble. Rocklea Neat Boy. entered by A. O. and R. H. Neuman, was second prize two-year-old and their Rocklea King was placed third. The auctioneers were the North Auckland Farmers’ Coop. Ltd.. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., and Wright Stephenson and Co. Ltd.
