Sergeant H. Hedley, of Whangarei, has been promoted to the rank of senior-sergeant and transferred to the Auckland Central Police Station. Sergeant Hedley has been in Whangarei for five years and has become well known through his skill as a golfer. * Constable D. H. Elliott has been transferred to Kaitaia to replace Constable G. F. Molloy. To assume the port of youth director of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, the Rev. W. M. Hendrie will arrive in Wellington by the Rangitoto from the United Kingdom tomorrow. Mr Hendrie succeeds the Rev. Dr J. D. Salmon, who was recently appointed the church’s director of religious education. He was born in Glasgow. Archbishop Averill was admitted to a private hospital in Auckland yesterday. He is to undergo an operation on Monday.
