64 Slate Houses In Carruth Block
With work progressing on 59 of its 64 projected units, the state housing area on the Carruth Block is taking on the appearance of a small suburb. Although only nine units are occupied, a further 10 are nearly completed. These are eight on the extension to First Avenue and two in Maunu Road. Twenty-six units are being built by rehabilitation carpentry trainees in First Avenue and a further 14 in Second Avenue. Work is now being carried out on all but five of these. A further 13 units are being built by a private contractor in Second Avenue.
