BILLIARDS .Finalists in the Northland B grade billiards championship are M. Conaghan and R. Snooks. In tf the second semi-final, played at Whangarei last night, Snooks beat W. B. Andrews 250—179. The final of 350-up is to be played on Monday night. YACHT CLUB RESIGNS The Royal Akarana Yacht Club last night notified its intention of resigning from the Auckland Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association. Reasons given were dissatisfaction with the set-up of the association, which, it was said, was over-much concerned with X class racing and not with the general interest of yachting. The club delegate said that Akarana differed in viewpoint with the association on many matters.
AUCKLAND RUGBY REFEREES / A committee from the Auckland Rugby Referees’ Association is to meet a deputation from the Auckland Rugby Union on Thursday night to discuss means of improving the standard of refereeing. When the referees met last night, it was reported that the union reaffirmed its . opinion that the standard of refereeing was open to criticism and expressed the desirability of discussing the matter. Several referees felt that the association was duty bound to do something about the unsatisfactory state of affairs.
