But New Zealanders are not interested in anatomical wonders, they wanted to see if he could wrestle. They didnt have to wait long. In Holmback’s first match at Wellington, he beat Dick Raines, followed this by beating Len Levy* and then, later in the season after recovering from Lofty Blomfield’s clamp—he beat Earl McCready. .But he has found that the style of wrestling and ruifgedness of New Zealand s champion, Ken Kenneth, is something that he cannot master and when these men meet at Whangarei on Friday July 22, there should be some of the most sensational wrestling seen in years. Holmback learned his wrestling in the lumber calnps of Alaska and he learned how to look after himself .in free-fbr-alls. He has had to modify his tactics slightly, to meet the requirements of modern wrestling lules but he is still the most rugged wrestler seen in the Dominion. This is a title, however, which Ken Kenneth is fast disputing. On his second visit to America, Kenneth concentrated on 30-minute matches and speeded up his wrestling, at the same time developing a ruggedness thai made him a prime favourite in Minneapolis and Winnipeg rings. His Irish Whip hold is most, effective —as most of the visiting wrestlers have found to their cost and when he goes into action against Holmback at Whangarei on Friday July 22 local wrestling fans will see what a vast improvement the new champion has made.
