Butter Exports Up 19 Tons Last June
Butter exports from the Whangarei harbour during June amounted to 80 tons, compared with 61} tons during June last year. This was shown in the Whangarei Harbour Board's monthly statement of trade and shipping for the months of June, 1948 and 1949. With the 1948 figures in parentheses, the statement shows that cement exports last month were 8040} tons (8717), coal 85 tons (88), lime 71 tons (177), all other goods 112} tons (75}). Similarly, imports of coal amounted to 3692} (2266}), sand 640 tons (387), wheat 1303 tons (—), wines and spirits 1073 tons (50), all other goods 538} tons (375).
The total tonnage of goods imported during June was 6383}, compared with 5221 for June, 1948.
Export tonnage amounted to 84002 tons last month as against 9461 tons in June, 1948. Sixty-eight vessels were entered and cleared last month, an increase of two on June, 1948. The registered tonnage of vessels was 8487} tons, a decrease of 4436 torip on last year’s figure of 12,923. FINANCES. Revenue receivable for pilotage last month, amounted to £4O, compared with £35 for June, 1948. Goods whai'fage brought in £lO3 (£B9), port charges £SO (£B6), rents £ll6 (114), plant hire £59 (£2l). Total revenue received for June was £1402, compared with £1387 for June, 1948.
The bank balance showed a current account of £639. compared with £1593 in June last year.
Portland shipping revenue amounted to £904 last hxonth, against £940 for June last year.
