Shortly after he came to New Zealand he took up an appointment as director of Naval reserves,- a position he held until the outbreak of war. He was then mobilised, continuing as director of reserves, but also taking the post of Naval Control Officer, Wellington. He retired from the position of director of Naval reserves in 1945.

To Hold Conference

The death occurred at his home, Wellington, of Captain Edwin Grave Morris, R.N. (retired), a former director of the RNZNR.

Born in London in 1886, Captain Morris entered the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, reaching the rank of commander in 1920.

On retirement from the Royal Navy in 1933 Captain Morris, who then was serving in Hongkong, was promoted to Captain.

WELLINGTON, Tue. tP.A.).—A conference of delegates from the New Zealand Fire Brigade Unions will be held in Wellington soon to consider the provisions of the Fire Services Bill introduced in Parliament on Friday by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Parry). This was announced today by the secretary of the Wellington Union (Mr L. Glover), who said the conference would afterwards make its views known to the Minister.
