Whangarei Primary School Committee
An application to the Whangarei Borough Council to have a traffic officer placed on point duty at the intersection of Mill Road and Bank, Kamo and Manse Streets between 8 and 9 a.m. has been made by the Whangarei School Committee. At its meeting last night the committee decided to make the application in view of the numbers of primary and secondary school children who cross the intersection at that time.
As the two new prefabricated classrooms on the school grounds have been completed and are in use, the committee decided to send a letter of thanks to the Baptist Church authorities for the use of their hall in Bank Street as school accommodation.
It was also decided to repaint the hall and recondition it.
The resignations of two members of the committee, Messrs M. C. McDonald and W. H. Main, were received with regret. The committee will appoint two new members.
