Aycklomder Wins Arf Scholarship

WELLINGTON. Tue. (P.A.). The Association of New Zealand Art Societies has awarded its 1049 £IOOO travelling scholarship to Miss Margaret Thompson, of 36 Gladstone Road, Mt Albert, Auckland, it was announced today by the association. Miss Thompson, who is 25. was educated at the Auckland Girls' Grammar School, prior to entering the Elam School of Art, Auckland, where she has been a student for five years.

Since then she has taught at the Takapuna Grammar School and is now a fulltime teacher at the Elam School of Art.

She will spend two years abroad, mainly in England and partly on the Continent, studying old masters and contemporary paintings.

A condition of the scholarship is that she returns to New Zealand after completing her studies abroad.
