SYDNEY, Mon. (11.30 a.m.) —Weights lor the big spring handicaps show that the crack New Zealander, Howe, has been given top-weight, 9.8 in the Melbourne Cup and equal top-weight with the Melbourne stayer Carbon Copy, in the Caulfield Cup. The New Zealanders, Bruce, King’s Ranson, and Tauloch, are all very prominent among the weight carriers in the Melbourne races, all carrying 9.0 or over. Carbon Copy also carries top-weight in the Sydney Metropolitan, with the New Zealanders, Bruce and King’s Ranson, each 41b lighter. Top-weight in the Epsom Handicap is Columnist, the nearest New Zealand contender being Tauloch.
