Bulk Power Supply To Whanqorei

The North Auckland Power Board’s engineer (Mr T. R. Overton) reported to the board yesterday that bulk supply of electric power to the Whangarei Borough Council commenced at midday on June 4. Since then the peak power load of 1175.44 k.v. occurred, at 5 p.m. on June 14. This number of units represents a power factor of .994, or 99.4 per cent of the allocation. On the same day, at 5.30 p.m., the peak loading for the board’s area was recorded at .997. The transfer of consumers who come within the new boundaries of the Whangarei borough area to the council, and those who were in the borough and are now outside its area, to the NAPB, was well under way, Mr Overton said.
