Seek Power Extension
An extension of power to serve seven homes and a limeworks was sought by Mr B. Linnell, of Kahvaka, in a letter to the North Auckland Power Board yesterday. He said that a demand for lime existed in the district, which included land suitable for breaking in if the lime could be obtained readily. No other limeworks served the district.
On Mi- V G. Judd’s motion the board resolved to carry out a survey of. the district with a view to providing the power for the farms and limeworks. The engineer (Mr T. R. Overton) was instructed to report on the proposed extension. Another request was made by the farmers near the Port Whangarei Wharf for a supply of power. The engineer stated that this job was next on the list to Pataua, which was nearing completion. Mr Iv. M. Stevens moved that the sfettlers be informed of their priority. Mr J. A. S. Mac Kay objected as he had been informed that the Uretiti block was next on the list and had told the settlers there that they would receive power shortly. Mr Stevens’ motion was carried.
