Defends Stock Registration Act
WELLINGTON. Wed.. < P.A.).—"Attempts are being made to break down the Stock Remedies Registration Ac l ..’' said Mr W. N. Perry. Dominion President of Federated Farmers, in a statement today. "I wish to make it quite clear that I will resist any attempts to weaken the Act or its administration, and in this;. 1 will have the backing of our whole organisation.” he said. “The Act was put on the statute book at the request of the farmers of the Dominion. The protection they have from quack stock remedies is even greater than the protection which human beings enjoy in this country, and we will not throw it away so lightly. Attacks on the Act are coming from people who wish to make a profit out of selling so-called remedies to the farmer. This is being prevented by the Stock Refined ies Registration Board, a body of highly qualified and impartial men.
“They can rest assured that, in carrying out fearlessly the provisions of the Act, %dfcich are there to protect the fatSMCT, they will have the support of Ottr organisation," concluded Mr Perry.
