Third-Grade Trialists
Two Whangarei representative thirdgrade Rugby teams are playing Rod-, ney teams at Kensington Park on Saturday as trials for the selection of the Whangarei team to play Mangonui for the Powell Shield the following week. The standard of third-grade football in Whangarei has been high this season, and it is anticipated that a strong XV. will challenge for the NARU trophy. The teams for Saturday's games are:

Showing only flashes of form. West Coast was lucky to beat Taranaki in a representative'Rugby League match at New Plymouth yesterday by 14 points to 11. The West Coast score was made up of two converted tries and two penalty goals. Taranaki scored three tries, one of which was converted.
