Lavish Hospitality

NEW PLYMOUTH, Mon. (Sp.).— The warmth of the hospitality offered to the New Zealand cricket team in England has been almost an embarrassment, to them, according to the manager (Mr J. H. Phillips) received at New Plymouth by his brother, Mr P. L. Phillips. He says that the entertainment has been on a lavish scale. Included in the functions attended by the team were a luncheon given by the Lord Mayor of Bradford and mayoral banquets at Eastbourne and Worcester. “There is no .doubt,” said Mr Phillips, “that these functions are attended by a ceremony and a colour which we in New Zealand could never hope to imitate, at least not until we are another thousand years older . “This is a great country and in spite of everything the people are still great.”
