Wmoll. v.op.;. —xiiiiuiis me took part in the Waitangi Golf Club’s open women’s tournament yesterday, were visitors from Whangarei, Whau Valley, Okaihau, Dargaville and Kaikohe. _ , Miss M. Rishworth (Whangarei) returned the best gross score over the 30 holes played. She took 143, two strokes better them Mrs M Rainbridcre (Kaikohe).

Eighteen'holes were played in the morning, but time allowed for the playing of only 12 in the afternoon. The new 11th hole of 170 yards was played for the first time during the ' tournament. With the- course in first-class condition,, and perfect golfing weather prevailing, some excellent scores were returned. Mrs Capon had a net 63 and Mrs Treen also played below her handicap, with a n'et 67. Par on the .course is • 71.
