Professor George William von Zedlitz, of Wellington, has died, aged 78 years. He was professor of modern languages at Victoria University College from 1902 to 1915. Later he became principal of the University Tutorial School. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Brigadier Weir, at present commander of the Southern Military District, will leave for England towards the end of the year to attend a one-year course at the Imperial Defence College, London, after which he will, be attached to the War Office for six months. Brigadier Weir’s successor as commander of the Southern Military District will be Brigadier G. B: Parkinson, at present senior New Zealand military liaison officer in the United Kingdom.
