Urge Control Of Professional Fees

WELLINGTON, Wed. (Sp.)—A suggestion that price control should be extended to professional fees was endorsed by the annual conference of the Labour Party yesterday.

It also referred to the Government for consideration a remit that the Price Control Division should investigate the following charges with a view to reducing them: Racecourse refreshments,, the price of clothing, fees for dental treatment, prices for tradesmen’s tools, timber, cement and footwear, and prices charged for full board. The conference recommended that a women’s representative should be appointed to 'the Price Tribunal. It also decided that in matters affecting major local issues Price Tribunal hearings should be held in all main towns. A suggestion thdt the affairs of life assurance societies should be supervised more strictly was approved. This was a remit from Christchurch. It was referred to the Government for consideration.
