Buzzards Wait For Flood Victims
RIO DE JANEIRO, Mon. (11 a.m.)— Hundreds of buzzards hovered over ruined towns along the lower Amazon as villagers hunted for bodies in the swirling debris left by the worst floods since 1918.
It is feared that the death-roll will mount into the hundreds. Floodwaters are sweeping over Maceio, capita lof Algoas state, and other towns.
Governor Silvestre Pericles estimated that 100 were killed already, and damage is over $2,500,000.
