Power Position Is 'Satisfactory'

WELLINGTON, Tue. (P.A.).—Electric power consumption in the North Island last week was 1 per cent below the allocation, said the electricity controller (Mr E. A. Davenport) yesterday. The general position remained satisfactory. ( The allocation for .the .week was 33,471,345 units, and the consumption was 32,822,761 units. In the South Island, warmer weather and emergency measures which followed the breakdown of the generator at Waitaki resulted in lower consumption last week than in the previous period, but it was 15.52 per cent above that of the corresponding week of 1948.
