Cycle By Air For Australian Tour ,
SYDNEY, Mon. (11.30 a.m.).--When the Air Ceylon Skymaster which had been delayed by Government order for several days at Darwin arrived at Sydney from London, Kenneth Bradley, 27, farmer, of Nottingham, walked off the plane, took delivery of his bicycle from the plane's freight compartment,' and began pumping up the tyres for a cycling tour of Australia. A customs man blinked in surprise when he wheeled the bicycle into the baggage room and waited for them to search several canvas bags hanging from it. Apart from these he had no luggage. Bradley cycled from London to Rome at a cost of £45 because he could not get a direct passage. After touring Australia he intends to settle in New Zealand as a dairy farmer. Wool Board Election Their term of office having expired, three of the six grocers’ representatives on the New Zealand Wool Board have to retire in August, and there •will be an election among growers to fill the vacancies.
The three retiring members all offer themselves for re-election. They are: Mr N. R. Jameson, of Onga Onga, who is chairman of the board; Mr A. Briscoe Moore, of Whangarei; Mr J. Acland. of Geraldine. Members are elected for a two-year term.
