£96 FROM YWCA STREET APPEAL

Considering that its activities have been limited in the past few years, the support shown to the Whangarei branch of the YWCA in its street appeal yesterday showed that the public retains faith in the organisation. A total amount of £96, £4 less than last year's figure, was collected. The president of the YWCA (Mrs D. F. Armstrong) said this morning that the money would be used to renovate the hall in Rust Avenue, as it was hoped, although no definite advice had been received, that a permanent secretary will be obtained from overseas next year.
