Seven Northlanders Receive Decorations
AUCKLAND, Sat. (Sp.).—Seven Northlanders were among the servicemen and civilians invested with decorations and awards by the Governor General (Sir Bernard Freyberg) at Government House yesterday.
Altogether, 92 servicemen and 13 civilians, received decorations and awards.
Mr John Berry, of Kaikohe, and Miss Txtiata Paora Kawharu, of Dargaville, were created Members of the Order of the British Empire (M.8.E,), civil division, and Captain John Osborne, of Ruawai,;.in the military division. Distinguished Flying ' Crosses were awarded to Flight-Lieutenant Noel Spanhake, of Kaitaia, and Flight Lieu-tenant'-John Sparks, of Whangarei. Flying Officer Jack Berdett, of Mingoliui, was awarded the Air Force Cross. Lieutenant-Colonel Douglas Morrison, of Whangarei, was awarded an Efficiency Decoration. *
