Bulls Sell Well At Big Hollow Stud

AN improved demand for yearling Jersey bulls was evident at the third sale of Northland’s Jersey week,- held at Matakohe yesterday, when a catalogue of 77 head from Mr R. N.-Sterling’s Big Hollow stud was submitted to a large attendance of buyers. Two cows changed hands at 125gn and lOOgn, while yearling bulls sold freely for the first time this week.

Waikato buyers were active and, as a result of the keen competition for most lots, prices were sustained throughout the sale. For the 68 cattle sold, an average realisation of 40gns resulted. The cows averaged 48gns, the in-calf heifers made 34gns apiece, the yearling heifers averaged 17gns, and the bulls sold at an average of 54gns apiece.
