Improvement To Health Scheme

WELLINGTON, Thu. (Sp.) Suggested improvements to the national health scheme were placed before a meeting of the caucus of the Parliamentary Labour Party by the Minister of Health (Miss Howard) yesterday.

Apart from stating that Miss Howard had put forward certain questions relating to the national health scheme and involving advances in both the curative and preventive provisions, the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) would not comment.

He added that Miss Howard’s posals had received general support but they would have to be examined in detail by the Government. Discussion in caucus yesterday afternoon centred around the economic situation both internally and as regards overseas commitments, according to Mr Fraser.

A statement outlining the position of sterling funds was made by the Minister of Finance (Mr Nash).

The Minister also discussed import licensing and 1 particularly the supply of motor cars and commodities of which shortages existed.
