Dairy Funds Bolster Wage Increase

AUCKLAND, Wed. (P.A.)—Whereas the dairying industry was drawing on its funds to the extent of 4/6 per cwt, farmers could not escape the fact that these funds were now used to bolster up the general wage increase, said Mr W.-W. Oberer, chairman of the dairy section of Federated Farmers of New Zealand, at the Auckland Provincial Conference yesterday. Since the announcement of the new price of 28.291 d per lb for butterfat, there had been a general wage increase, resulting in another 1.395 d per lb for June and July being added to the existing guaranteed price.
