R. M. Campbell Ira Whangarei
Returning to his home on a short visit, the chairman of the Public Service Commission (Mr R. M. Campbell) met local controlling officers of the Public Service at an informal meeting yesterday. Mr Campbell, who was born at Maungatapere and educated at -the Whangarei Boys’ High School, spent the week-end with his sister, Mrs W. J. Bell, at Kauri, and returned South today. Mr Campbell took the opportunity of meeting leading public service officials in the office of the Whangarei representative op. the public service commission, the Public Trustee (Mr D. O’Donoghue).
WAODS REHEARSAL. Good numbers again attended the rehearsal for the Whangarei Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society’s “The Quaker Girl” last night. The evening was spent in practising the more tricky chorus parts. A number of scores are expected to arrive today, and it is Loped that the casting will be started next Monday night.
