Use Of Analgesics By Brinish Midwives
LONDON, Fri. (10 a.m.).— The Ministry of Health announced that the Medical Research Council has set up a committee to promote research into analgesia for use by midwives. The chairman is Sir William Gilliatt, president of the Royal- College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Before a final decision can be reached regarding any new methods by which midwives could safely administer analgesics without medical supervision, extensive clinical trials will probably be necessary.
