Peiping Bombed

SHANGHAI, Thu. (11 a.m.)—Cmnese Nationalist planes bombed,Peiping yesterday, dropping 30 bombs in Nanyuan, the southern suburb section of the city.

Peiping radio said four were killed, eight are missing, six were wounded, and some houses were destroyed. Shanghai garrison headquarters to day threw a division of reinforce ments into the battle for Kashing about 50 miles south-west of Shang hai, in an effort to stem the Commun ist-drive up the railroad towards Shanghai’s south-west defences. Troops on Shanghai’s western perimeter have begun chopping down groves of trees to build tank traps and blockhouses. The evacuation of civilians from Nanchang, capital of Kiangsi, is reported in full swing as the Communists sweep closer to the city. According to a report by the Manila Times, tlje Chinese Communists have taken Hainan Island.
