Efforts made by the Hikurangi subcentre of the Red Cross Society raised £99 for the cancer campaign appeal, said the president of the subcentre (Mrs O. Pearson), at the annual meeting.

The court held in connection with the effort for the Hikurangi war memorial funds realised £6O. The collection made among members for the Whangarei old men's home resulted in each man receiving a parcel of clothing. During the year, 35 food parcels were sent to Britain, and, a number more are being prepared. Several visits were made tq ex-ser-vicemen and other patients in the Whangarei Hospital.
