No Alteration In Whangarei

No alteration to existing electricpcwer restrictions was made by the Whangarei Borough Council’s electricity load control committee today. The only restriction is on waterheaters, the use of which is confined to 12 hours each day. The heaters have to be switched off from 6.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., but can be used during thg intervening timec.

The electrical engineer (Mr W. J. Dawson) told the committee that he was concerned at the financial aspect. Forty per cent of units now sold were at an uneconomic rate, being purchased for ,48d a unit, and sold at ,4d. He understood -that a move was being made elsewhere for an increase in charges.
