West End Wins 8-Oar Event
CAMBRIDGE, Mon. (Sp.).—Unexpected results were produced at the 53rd annual New Zealand championship regatta on Lake Karapiro on
Saturday. . West End (Auckland) won its first national championship since the inception of the club >n 1884. when it beat the title-holders, Aramoho (Wanganui) in the eight-oared event. Aramoho won two of the five championships. It won the fours by a canvas from Avon and the doublesculls by two feet from Pctone. T. F. Hegglun (Wairau) won the single sculls after the defending champion, J. K. Schneider, lost seven lengths through fouling a mark buoy. Champion Eights. ID miles—West End 1 Aramoho 2, Waitemata 3.
