No Limits But Full Totalisator Dividends

A feature of the off-course betting proposal recommended by the Royal Commission is that the investor will receive the full dividend paid by the horse on the Course Totalisator, and the full dividend paid on the Doubles Totalisator. The illegal bookmaker today fixes his own unfair arbitrary “limits.” For 40 years those who have desired to back their fancy off-course have had no option but to accept these restricted dividends because there has been no alternative legal system.

Your vote on 9th March will be “For” or “Against” the introduction of properly regulated and decently controlled off-course betting, conducted through offices or. agencies of the totalisator established throughout the Dominion. On that day there will be the opportunity of substantially eliminating the illegal bookmaker and his undesirable influence on racing as a sport. The Royal Commission found that a large volume of off-course betting is inevitable. Why not bring it out into the open and control it through legal channels, so that the public who pay, get a proper return from their investment and benefit also from better course amenities. (Issued by authority N.Z. Racing and Trotting Conferences)
