Week-End Picnics

Three organised picnics were held during the week-end. The combined lOOF Men's Lodge and the Aloha Rebecca Ladies' Lodge held their annual picnic on the Ruakaka Domain on Saturday. Altogether, about 100 people attended, filling two buses and several private cars to capacity. Children's and adults’ races were organised, and the event proved most successful. At Pataua, the staff of Messrs Haigh Brothers held its annual picnic. Plenty of ice cream and food and a full programme of races for all ages kept the 140 present occupied all day. Bargain Stores, Ltd., conducted its annual picnic at Matapouri Bay on Saturday, about 80 attending'. An interesting highlight was the presence of Mr J. Tudehope and his movie camera. Swimming and races were the main items.
