Kaitaia Plane Used As Air Ambulance

KAITATA, Mon. (Sp.).—Used for the first time as an air ambulance, the Kaitaia Aero Club’s Tiger Moth aircraft yesterday flew a hospital patient from Kaitaia to Auckland. He was Mr W. Barter, of Gill’s Road. Awanui 0 whose transfer to the Auckland hospital for further treatment was essential. It was not possible to secure a booking by the NAC service, and the patient was not fit to travel by road ambulance.

It was anticipated that the flight to Mangere would occupy lij hours.

Pending completion of the club’s hangar at the Kaitaia Aerodrome the machine is still housed at Auckland. It was flown by a city pilot, Mr M. Hunter.
