Man Killed, Two Hurl In Car Mishap

CHRISTCHURCH, Sat. (P.A.).— A man suffered fatal injuries and two children were injured, one of them seriously, when two motor-cars collided at the corner of Weedons-Lincoln Road and Waterhold Road, near Springston, early last evening. The victims were:— Died of injuries: William McLaren, aged 71, married, farmer of Springston. Injured: Helen Borrie, aged 21 months, serious head injuries. Her parents live at 39 Marlow Road, Aranui. Adrian Ronald Borrie, aged 3, brother of Helen Borrie, head injuries. Those injured were admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at eight o’clock last night. Mr McLaren died at 1.55 a.m. today. Helen Borrie was reported this morning to be on the seriously ill list.

Adrian Borrie’s condition was reported to be improving.
