CANBERRA (By Airmail). —Buildings to resist atom bpmb attacks are included in a £6,C00,'000 Post Office construction and modernisation pro-

gramme for the State of Victoria, announced recently by the Australian Postmaster-General (Senator D. Cameron)

in the city of Melbourne, with its population of over 1,000,C00, £2,730,000 will be spent, mainly on two additional modern telephone exchanges. Under one of these will be constructed a basement designed to resist atom bomb attack.

An emergency telephone system will be maintained for the city in the event of any attack affecting other services. The remainder of the £0,000,000 will be spent on extending postal and telephone services throughout country areas.—Reuters.
