WAGES
AUCKLAND.— As a result of pressure of work, conciliation commissioners have been relieved of the duty of dealing with applications for wage increases agreed upon by individual employers and workers. Applications are now being handled by the stabilisation authorities in Wellington. The secretary of the Employers’ Association (Mr W. E. Anderson) said yesterday that the change was causing a good deal of inconvenience locally. A case could be put much more easily by a personal appearance before the commissioner than by having to submit it in writing.
